About Me

My Story

I Am A Passionate Health and Wellness Advocate

About BOFA:
I’m Betty Olayinka Folarin-Akinlosotu, aka BOFA. I’m a trained and experienced Integrative Nutrition Health Specialist. I’m passionate about creating a more peaceful, healthy world in my community. As a coach on Health and Nutrition, I help people attain healthy, happy, thriving, and emotionally secure life.

I was born in Nigeria but relocated to the United States almost two decades ago, where I have worked in education and healthcare sectors in the paid and volunteer positions. I believe it is important for people to understand that, one does not need to be an RD, RN, or MD to be able to figure out the type of foods that help support health. My advocacy is on Wellness, making people to understand that wellness is not about absence of illness or healthy food on our plate alone, but our mind, environment, spirit, community, emotions, finances and career; and each aspect of this wellness can affect our quality of life.

When it comes to Diet, my focus is on individuals creating and attaining healthy diet, and working their way into healthy and beautiful body, and a robust life.

I’m a teacher and homemaker. I understand what you’re going through, I empathize with your challenges, and in support of your wellness journey. I care deeply about people and also care about my clients. I love being a mentor and inspiration for others. I educate and help people to live and develop an attitude of wellness. I’ve reversed diabetes, high blood pressure and other health conditions with healthy diets. I’ve stopped hemorrhoids with diet. I coach to a full understanding that, people, especially women need to know they have choice – they can either choose good health and wellness or opt for poor health and sickness. I coach people about the effects the food has on our body. I deprive joy in telling people, especially women about how strong, sexy, and beautiful their bodies are and the extraordinary things their bodies can do. I hate to stop here because I know you enjoy reading about me. Let’s move on to the next story about me.

Why I Chose To Be An INHS

My passion for wellness started the day I realized that “Food is indeed a medicine.”  The decision of being a wellness advocate began the day I found solution to the problem that has ruined my life for many years. The problem that made me vulnerable to a certain health condition for more than 15 years even though it wasn’t infectious ended in less than three months.

I was vulnerable to non-infectious skin disease for many years which had led me to many specialists for help. Unfortunately, no one (specialist or doctor) could help. I mean none of the medication, pill, or lotion could help. I did research to find out what was the cause of this problem. Guess what? No trust on whatever I read at that time. I did not believe anything I read online relating to my problem because I believe everything online was posted by those (specialist) who could not help me physically.

One day, I visited my OBGYN doctor for my famine annual check-up. I started the conversation telling my doctor how devastated I was about my skin. Surprisingly, she said four life changing words that change my life forever. I’m sure you are curious to know these four (4) words? I’ll tell you, but before I say the words, believe today that food is not just for energy function in the body, it’s also a medicine. If you agree with me, then go with me to a healing land of the four words. “Betty Change Your Diet (BCYD)” said by Dr. Barbara Gordon, a New York based Obstetric Gynecologist. Dr. Gordon said with confidence and assurance on her face that really convinced me that she actually knew what she was saying.  She gave me her words promising it’s going to work for me if I can be doubtless and try this method.

Behold, the words CYD, sounded like a healing utterance from the almighty God. The statement immediately sank in my head. To God be the glory, that ended my problem. I took a brilliant decision, a smart step and a bold move and did exactly what Dr. Barbara Gordon advise. I began to eat healthy, drink more water, and practice physical activities. I experiment more on green leafy and colorful vegetables, eat fruits rich in antioxidants mostly as well as eat more fiber-rich carbohydrate food. I substitute my unhealthy fat to healthy oil and nuts to get healthy fat in my body. I engage more on healthy habits along with more research on nutrition every day.

Unbelievably, my skin cleared off within three months of this change. It was like a miracle! Natural Healthy food does it all! Yes, Plant Based Diet is the deal that helped in healing my non-infectious skin disease. For this amazing change, I decided to acquire more knowledge in holistic Integrative Nutrition Health. And today, I’m fulfilling my dreams; empowering holistically by helping my fellow women and vulnerable people like myself reversing different health problems with healthy diet as an Integrative Nutrition Health Specialist.

Guess what? You Can absolutely do It Too, If I Can.
